CX912 introduction

The CX912 includes two independent physical switching planes: 10GE switching plane and FC switching plane.

10GE switching plane:
? Provides 40 internal 10GE ports, including 3 x 10GE ports for each half-width slot from slots 1 to 8 and 2 x 10GE ports for each half-width slot from slots 9 to 16.
? Provides two internal 40GE ports for interconnecting two 10GE switch modules.
? Provides 16 external 10GE optical ports for connecting to SFP+ optical modules or passive direct attached cables (DACs) to provide service ports for switch modules and for connecting to external switch modules or other network devices.
The CX912 of the C00 version does not support stacking and L3 switching, but the CX912 of the C10 version supports these functions.

FC switching plane:
? Provides 16 internal FC ports for connecting to half-width slots 1 to 16.
? Provides eight external 8G FC optical ports on the panel for connecting to FC storage devices or FC switches.
? Port rate: 4G/8G auto-negotiation
? Its FC switch module is an ODM product from Brocade, and supports the switching mode and NPV mode.
? In switching mode, the FC switch module can be directly attached to an FC storage device.
? In switching mode, the FC switch module can communicate with an FC switch from Brocade using the E-Port. To enable the communication, the full-fabric license for interconnection with the E-Port and ISL trunking license are required.
? In NPV mode, the FC switch module can communicate with an FC SAN switch from another vendor.
? In NPV mode, the FC switch module can communicate with an FC SAN switch from Brocade.

The two CX912s in a pair of slots can operate independently, in 1+1 redundancy mode, or in load sharing mode by working with the OS and NICs.
